About the Presenter(s)

Afiya is the co-owner of Express Employment Professionals in St. Joseph, Michigan. She is a native of Southwest Michigan, and despite being from a small town, she has already made huge accomplishments in life. Her professional experiences span multiple industries, including education, management, and health care. Her skill set is also wide-ranging, and she is a self-driven and goal-oriented communicator, organizer, and leader. She is service-minded and passionate about working with youth and young adults, particularly young women. Afiya’s favorite quote says that “people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” She is intentional about fulfilling her God-given purpose and living an authentic life.


Vonetta McGinnis
Vonetta McGinnis, M.S.W., L.M.S.W., is a Licensed Master Social Worker, and an Adult, Child, and Family Therapist. She is the owner and founder of Victory Counseling Services and has a unique approach in connecting with clients and motivating them towards mental, emotional, and behavioral change. Through collaboration with her clients, she helps them define their problems which enables Vonetta to create a unique treatment plan to meet their needs and help them feel empowered, thus ensuring high levels of commitment to treatment, and having a positive outcome.
Vonetta has over 10-years of experience of working in counseling private practice. After receiving her master’s degree in social work, Vonetta worked as a contract therapist for a counseling private practice to develop and grow as a therapist. Vonetta later launched her counseling business, Victory Counseling Services, in 2009. Vonetta has a heart for her community and is passionate about her mission to provide quality mental health services to enhance children, adults, and family’s quality of life.
